Research project

We are continuing to study the isolation and structure elucidation of novel compounds possessing the biological activities such as antimicrobial, antibacterial, cytotoxic, anti-oxidative activities from edible or inedible mushrooms, crude drugs, medicinal plants or herbs, cymbidium and Cordyceps mushroom. We are also attempting to elucidate the entire molecular mechanism of the biosynthesis of these compounds and to construct a useful substance production system by engineering the biosynthetic system based on the obtained knowledge.

  1. Search for biologically active compounds from mushrooms, Cordyceps fungi, and cymbidium.
  2. Elucidation of biosynthetic mechanism of useful compounds in medicinal plants
  3. Construction of useful compound production system by engineering of biosynthetic system
