The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences offer four-year Doctorate degree courses for six-year Pharmaceutical Course Graduates. It has been keeping the high level education which has authorized the first doctorate educational institutions in the Chugoku and Shikoku Region.

Human Life Sciences

Food Sciences / Information Sciences in Life and Environment / Childhood Education / Psychology/Human Life Studies

There are four fields to choose from in this course: 1) Nutrition which focuses on practical research of functional foods and preventive nutrition; 2) Life, Environment and Information which involves the analysis of information in our life and environment; 3) Childhood Education which allows for further study about education and 4) Psychology where students study how to become a clinical psychologist.

In our graduate program we train students to become professionals in the nursing field with specialized skills and knowledge that will lead to a high degree of nursing aptitude.

Policy Studies

Policy Studies

Our graduate school is a “graduate school for professionals" that aims at training “highly skilled professionals" with advanced specialist knowledge applicable to practical skills in society rather than training academics as in traditional graduate schools. We offer training for advanced skills in public policy making and solving related problems suitable for professionals such as those already in local governments as career-officials or those aiming at entering into national and local politics, the media, think-tanks or NPOs.

Engineering

System Control Engineering / Nano Material and Bio Engineering

The Graduate School consists of two departments; 1) Department of System Control Engineering (5year program) which was established in 1993 where students study the features of engineering through an all-encompassing viewpoint called system control. 2) The Department of Nano Material and Bio Engineering, established in 2004, was the first of such departments in Japan. Here staff and students work to develop new materials and substances by making full use of Nano technology. Both programs aim to educate students to become highly competent scientists and researchers with creative skills for development.

Literature

Regional Culture

Various subjects such as Japanese literature and linguistics, English and American literature and linguistics, archaeology, history, geography and folklore are covered in this course. One unique characteristic of this course is that we look at the present society by making the best use of modern techniques and proceed with our analysis. We are also actively engaged in cooperative research projects with other universities.
